RE: Several Wounded in Gaza by Israeli Gunfire (3/30/10)
To the Editor:
Palestinians were met on Tuesday with warning gunfire from the Israeli government as they were protesting Land Day, the anniversary of the 1976 land reform Israel put in place to expropriate land in Western Israel. The border tensions have always been a serious attribute to the Israeli and Palestinian conflict, and Tuesday was a day like any other. This article was interesting because of our recent discussions in class based on race clashes and land disputes happening on the borders. It reminded me of a quote that one of the mothers said in the recent movie we watched To Die in Jerusalem, when she stated that "in war no one is a winner". The harsh realities of the situation between the two cultures is further emphasized in this article, and it is hard to swallow. This situation in particular reminds me of the Boston Massacre, which we're discussing in detail in another class, and the afterwards confusion. Who shot first? Who was the victim? and how do we portray this kind of event? Makes me wonder what the people after this event will do to events like this to shape them into a personal history.

I like how you put that, "...to shape them into a personal history" It is as if history is the justification for war. If it is going to be big, everyone will think its okay. This was a great, LTE, Erin.
