RE: Palestinians Try a Less Violent Path to Resistance (4/7/10)

It was so encouraging to read an article about the Palestinians turning to non-violent protest instead of perpetuating the violence. There is something very special about the fact that one militant lades are now planting trees and marching. Throughout history, peaceful movements against oppression (the Salt Marches in India and Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights movement) have prevailed. The leading political party in the West Bank is recognizing this phenomenon and encouraging settlers to boycott Israeli products and promoting social strengthening programs. Along with recognition of their state, I hope that the Palestinians’ example of non-violence will permeate not just Israel, but also the Middle East and the World.
