Re: I.M.F. Says West Bank Economic Growth Is Imperiled by Israel and Arab States

To the editor:
The International Monetary Fund reported that the Palestinian economy has grown in the last year, however; they also say that this is likely to not be the case in the near future. They blame the endangered growth rate of Gaza and the West Bank on the restrictions that Israel has placed on them. Gaza's unemployment rate is at 39% and is likely to increase in the future. We Americans are complaining with our unemployment rate being at 9.7%. Imagine if we had to deal with this. The restrictions that Israel is placing on the Palestinian areas is wrong. It is simply just a political move that is completely ignoring the citizens well-being. The governments won't even agree to peace talks. Why? Because they don't want to mess up their political agendas. Israel wants to force Gaza into believing that Fatah needs to be the ones in charge much like the West Bank. This may be true, but Israel needs to understand that starving, murdering and inhumanly treating the Gaza citizens is not the way to do this. If Israel continues with the way they are doing things, there will continue to be constant violence from Gaza in response and reconstruction will be nearly impossible.
