Ultimately Our Fight... Apparently.

Re: “U.S. Defense Chief Visits Saudi Arabia to Bolster Effort Against Iran” (March 11, 2010)

To the Editor:

This article, written only 6 days after “Hoping to Make Iran Sanctions Work but Readying Gas Masks, too” makes everything proposed in the last article the United States idea. Why is it the America has chosen to be the mediator between countries in the Middle East? Based on the information given in the March 5th article, Israel wanted harsher sanctions on Iran, but in this article it was the United States. It is also states that the “western nations say [Iran] is building up a covert nuclear arms program” which has been a known proposal for months and should not be news to those in the Middle East. The United States should not have to, “stitch together the architecture across the region” because as later stated in the March 11th article, “this is your country and ultimately your fight to win”. If this is statement is so widely accepted and applied to all of our overseas endeavors, eventually, why do we not just say this from the beginning and avoid getting involved? It seems incredibly contradictory and pointless.
