Operation Encouragement

Re: Protest Leader Ends Silence, Defying Tehran With a Meeting
Author: Nazila Fathi

To The Editor:

The article "Protest Leader Ends Silence..." was very encouraging for me to read. This article shows the strength of the Iraqi people to be who they are. When Saddam Hussein was head of the government, the people had no power. They could not rise against him without risking their very lives; but now that he is out of reign, the Iraqi people can protest what they feel to be a rigged election. I am encouraged because this shows the power of people coming together for a cause. They agree with each other, and instead of fearing for their lives due to their disagreement with the government, they are banding together as a nation to fight an injustice. These people are reaching a freedom they have not known, and it does my heart good.
